Dr. Foster

A friend recommended chiropractor Dr. Foster for helping Sophia. I then found out quite a few other friends (Andrea, Kordays, Ginger) had known her a long time and strongly trusted her knowledge. Worth a try, right? I guess if the baby's back is misaligned from delivery it can impede the nerve messages sent to the stomach and result in digestive problems; the nerve also links to SIDS. So Dr. checked and aligned me first-- small pushes on pressure points on the head and spine. Felt good. Then Sophia layed on my stomach and got her own little adjustment. It was kind of hot in the house and she screamed the whole time we were there, but fell right asleep in the car and has been more content in general since the adjustment I would say. We go back for a check on wednesday.

Glad we went.

Taking off for the Outer Banks this afternoon... we have a new RV at this cute little RV park in Kitty Hawk and are enjoying little weekend "cations" there as Luke would say. I'll take some pictures this time and give you a tour when we get back!

.encouraged.

She did so much better last night... thank you friends for all the prayers. And sisters, mom, for the calls. Felt not so stressed yesterday and the Lord gave me grace to try again afresh.

Oh the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
Spread his praise from shore to shore
how he came to pay our ransom
through the saving cross he bore...

How he watches over his loved ones
Those he died to make his own
How for them he's interceding (!)
Pleading now before the throne

Oh the deep, deep love
All I NEED and TRUST
Is the Deep, deep love of Jesus!

Cryin Update

Last night she cried from 5:30 to 10:30 ... today she did better so far. I am trying chewing 2 papaya enzyme extract pills with each meal. Feeding her more upright. And swaddled her to see if that helps. Have taken milk, caffeine, tomato sauce, and broccolli out of diet. Any other ideas???

Cry, Cry, Cry

I thought we had a talk Lord where you were not going to give me 2 colicky babies... which is what I've got. Don't want to complain but that is what my days, oh and nights are right now: cry, cry, cry. Some days are worst than others. If she goes 5 minutes contently silent (unless sleeping) I am wondering what is wrong. i wonder if some babies are happy but I guess i will never know.

It is hard. Sometimes I just want a break... I hope she gets better soon.

Newborn Shoot

My good friend Amy took some newborn pictures of Sophia at 10 days old or so. It is funny because you see all those cute pictures of little babies in a basket and such, but let me tell I hand it to the photographer b/c it is not that easy! She was not too happy with taking her clothes off or laying on her tummy either. She stayed awake until the end which surprised me. We had a peeing episode all over my pants too- haha. But despite all that we still got some cutie shots!

Pirate Party!

Luke decided he wanted a pirate party for his birthday night. We took a fun trip to Party City and he helped pick out pirate stuff... plates, hats, candles, a treasure box, and blow up sword. He has a Little Einsteins book and learned 'Ahoy me hearties' and the pirate 'argghh'. Here he is testing that sound out on me...

We grilled out and then he opened presents. A book and tractor truck from nanny and pawpaw, a chainsaw from Uncle Man and Aunt Jen and Haley, and the favorite was his mail bag and box set from Aunt Jess, see below!

We ate ice cream cake from Cold Stone... he chose strawberry! It was enjoyed by all.

Even little Sophia :)

Fun Times!
