Happy Birthday to My Luke

I can't believe you are 3 today buddy! I can remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. Hours of back labor and then out you came... you grabbed the midwife Wendy's hand as soon as your arms came out. I was so excited to see you, and so was Poppy. The only time I can remember seeing him cry :) You held his finger while they weighed you on the scale and you just looked around, checking everything out.

You were a "nosy" little guy, as Aunt Sharay would say. Always wanted to see who was there and what was going on. Which is still true today. And you cried a lot... drama :) Which is also still true today. You always would bring a smile to everyone you came in contact with. Making friends on the trips we would go on, in the grocery store... everyone loves the Luke. Your eyes light up with excitement. You are very interactive and social. At one, they called you "the mayor" at the YMCA babies class... maybe you will be one one day!

When I think about you my heart melts. I love you so much. When I thought about you before you were born, I could see a smile that would light up a room, and a little guy that would bring joy to me and your poppy. And you have done just that. You will always be mamas best boy.

Love you Lukey.

Two Weeks In...

We reached two weeks old in my little one's life. Everything is going pretty well! We had a rough start more with Luke-- disobeying everything I said and being really bad. But with some discipline and new time out chair he seems to be coming around to his normal self. Poor guy was used to being the center of attention I know.

Sophia had her first real bath today... she did quite well. I thought she would scream b/c she hates being naked, and when her diaper is wet or dirty. But she did well... just a little crying until I took her out. My mom bought her a beautiful pottery barn crib set. I love it so much-- thanks mom! She doesn't like lying flat on her back though. I keep putting her in each day and hope she gets more used to it. Right now she sleeps in the swing (but not swinging) and that is where she rests the best.

It is different with two... two baths, two diapers (hopefully not too much longer), twice as long it seems to get out of the house and in the car :) I give myself 20-30 min to get loaded up now b/c inevitably one is crying or pooped!

My mom is her until tuesday; she has been such a help with kitchen cleaning and holding the baby at night. I will be sad to see her go! And my niece Kaela too. That extra set of hands is so helpful. Will post more pics when I get my camera to download :)

Introducing...

Sophia Grace
Born June 5th at 2:49pm
6 lbs. 14 ou.
20 inches long

She is here! Want to thank everyone that was praying... the induction went really well. My midwife broke my water at 12:15pm and she was born at 2:49. Walked through all but the end of labor and the pain was much more manageable not having back labor this time. Wayne and Sharay were with me and it was a beautiful birth.

Yay! She is out

Luke came to see her and was very excited about "baby sister". "I kiss her, I hold her", "I take care of her :)" She is quite a content baby so far... only cries when her diaper is dirty. And all the nurses raved about her being the all-star nurser.

We are home, resting, and happy!

On Thursday

Went to my midwife appt. yesterday. Was 2 cm dialted but no early signs of labor :( So they scheduled for me to come in thursday morning to be induced. They start with the medicine on the cervix, which hopefully will do the trick and send me into labor. It worked with Luke... but that was 1o days late and this is 2 days early. So I am praying; that everything goes smoothly and our little girl is born safely and healthy!

Neat Quote

"Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-fruitful path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb."

Sir Winston Churchill
