He Got In!

A couple weeks ago we got a letter basically saying Luke was "qualified" for the kindergarten we were trying to get him in... but they were full :( I was sooooo bummed. We had been waiting for months through the app process and I really felt like it was the right place for him to go. A way for me to give him a great jump start into his education. So I was way bummed and doubtful that someone might decline and a spot would open up.

I talked to his current dayschool about him staying there so we could re-apply for kindergarten when he was 6-- but then it kind of made next year like a long waiting period- yuck

But then yesterday at the gym- caller ID said the school was calling! My stomach dropped- and sure enough the admit lady said a spot had opened up and they wanted to offer it to LUKE ! ! !

I have been on a cloud 9 high for like 48 hours! This was seriously like a college application
So once we get the contract--- my boy will be kindergarten bound

SO thankful, I really feel like God heard my prayers over the last 6 months-- and to be let down and gifted the spot was even more a blessing

So excited

Ramblings on 30...

I turned 30 in October... wow. I can remember when my mom was 30! She gave me the "gift" of looking young. Now I used to think it was a curse; since I did gymnastics I was really small-- Like 4'3" in high school if I remember right (Yes people used to think I was in the wrong school and ask me how is the weather down there) I remember on several occasions going out to dinner and being handed a children's menu when I was like 16 years old.... and getting so upset. But NOW it is good, right? They said I would be thankful one day :)

Maybe like me you are getting older, had a few kids... do you wonder if you're staying cool?? I hope I don't get busy and "let myself go" haha. I have been getting in touch with people from high school days on facebook. Oh my!- not seeing people for ten years it is funny to see how everyone has changed. So here's to doing my hair more often, not wearing comfy jeans all the time, and updating my wardrobe! I want to be a cool mom, inside and out!

*** Oh and on the gymnastics note... Luke was invited to a school friends "gymnastics party" tomorrow! I am so excited to see what he thinks of it. Especially since it was all I did growing up. Maybe he has some talent, stay tuned!

Look Mom, One Hand!

Lil Sweeters continues to be highly advanced :) She has had strong legs from the get go... if I held her hands she could stand up from like 3 months. She has this new thing that she only wants to stand up- no sitting. If you go to set her on her bottom, she goes stiff as a board and won't sit. So funny. She also has been acting like she wants to pull up on furniture, so I let her give it a go yesterday....

TA-DAA!
Of course I can stand all by myself mama!
And she is doing this wide open mouth smiling and laughing a lot. When I pick her up she opens her mouth and says "ahhhhhhh" and grabs at my face. Gotta watch the claw fingers though, she got my nose the other day!

And silly Luke has been diving in the hamper everyday. I keep telling him not to do that... but I think it is pretty funny too. He dives in and can't get out, then calls me "mama heeeeelp!!!" so I can rescue him :)

Love my kiddos.

Halleluiah, Praise the Lord, She is taking a Bottle

I don't think I've posted about this, but if you know me in real life I have been trying everything to get Sophia to take a bottle. I tried the fat Dr. Brown's, the Breast Flow bottle, the Adiri natural nurser bottle (I wished she would have taken that one b/c is was so cool!), avent magic sippy cup, Playtex vented. No go. She would chew on the bottle nipple like it was a teether. Then gag, spit it out, choke, throw a fit. Was it the milk she didn't like? So I bought a breast pump on craigslist and pumped, tried soy milk, non-soy Carnation milk, then Earth's Best Organic soy milk... same result on all milks.

Then I saw a mom in Nordstom (by the way they have the best nursing mothers room) feeding her twin 10 month girls with the skinny bottle by Dr. Brown's... made a mental note to try those. And I did have a couple from Luke's "boo" days. Low and behold she got it! Ate 2 ounces, then 4! We've got it! What a relief.

Making Great Strides

So we are over the hump on the pooping ! ! ! ! (knock on wood) I caught him in time on thursday... and we made a huge deal. I made up this song--- you mom's can appreciate this: poo-poo on the po- tty (to a congo line tune) and he liked that and sang along and did the train with me around the house. And then does this bow, and says "clap for me momma", which I always do!

To make an even bigger deal I took him that night to Toys R Us to pick a special toy for reward-- ended up getting a small toy train set b/c he likes playing with the one at the store so much. But then friday after school he went in his pants again :( So Wayne stuck to taking the train away, and no watching Johnny Quest on TV with poppy (which he loves). He was very upset; I wanted to cave, but Wayne was firm thank goodness. Because Saturday morning- he told me before he had to go which is HUGE! He would always hide when I wasn't paying attention so I couldn't catch him. We had to take the train away again yesterday afternoon-- but he got it back this morning!!! So I think we are getting there. Never new one could be so happy about pooping !

What to "do"

I've begged, I've pleaded, I've encouraged, I've bribed, I've spanked, I've cried...
I bought him Elmo, Bob the Builder, Diego, and Handy Manny Undies... but still no pooping on the potty :(

So I've resorted to patience. Do you think he will just one day do it ? ? ?

Highly advanced...

Now she has been doing this for at least a couple weeks, sitting up! She has excellent control for just 4 months, doesn't she? We did have one face plant while I was trying to take the pics- don't worry we have heavy carpet padding :)

Our Sweet Pea is very interactive and social. If someone says hello to her while we are out... they get the huge happy smiles (like above) and lots of kicks and arm waves. So excited. She is such a joy.

Learning Fast

Sophia is a strong girl for 13 weeks. A few weeks ago she starting standing up with me just holding her hands! She is schooching on her back and tummy. At her YMCA "class" she goes to while I workout... the lady had her in an exersaucer and the bumbo chair this week! I didn't know she was ready for these already! So I found her a Baby Einstein Exersaucer on Craigslist for $15--- and she loves it. She figured out how to hit the buttons for the animal sounds and smiled when she made it play the song. And she likes the book with the cow and tried to turn the pages too. Big girl ! !

Big Boy

I left Luke with a pair of pants this morning, walked away to get his socks... and when I got back he had put both his legs into the pants. I was so surprised :) Seems like such a little thing, but he put them on all by himself and I never even taught him. So smart. I love you "mamas best boy"
